Dear Parents,
I have some good news. Our recess situation has improved dramatically the past two weeks. Thank you for helping us to stress the importance of being kind to each other. It has worked.
To give the students an alternative to outside recess, this week I allowed each grade level to come to the gym during recess. The results of student participation in open gym this week were:
Grade 5 boys=40 students participated
Grade 5 girls= 30 participated
Grade 4 boys= 45 participated
Grade 4 girls= 35 participated.
We will continue the alternative recess gym time again next week.
I told the children Wednesday at Lunch that I was increasing the group size to 7. They seemed please. I will raise the group limit to 8 next week if the great recess behavior continues.
Once again, thank you for your continued support.
p.s Since the temperature has risen to 40 degrees,students have been begging me to allow them to take off their coats at recess time. Until the temps get into the upper 40’s or 50’s please continue to have them wear their winter coats to school. Thank you
