"Taste The Refactoring Experience" with Arlo Belshee

The Blurb
Arlo Belshee will explain refactoring and guide us through examples-both simple and complex-to help discover different ways to improve code. These examples demonstrate the subtle, endemic problems that can make a system difficult to maintain and allow bugs to creep in. The key success factor in an emergent design approach is to create an adaptable design that you improve through refactoring. Arlo will use a "fishbowl" format to demonstrate refactoring in action. Come prepared to participate as coders pair in the "refactoring hot seat" while people in the session offer suggestions.
Our Speaker
Arlo Belshee does a little bit of everything-but what he really does is inspire courage to make things better. Although Arlo has been involved in agile development since 1999, he worked for two years in a rigorous and pro-people waterfall development shop. Arlo is a strong believer in discipline, agility, punctuated continuity, and change as the only constant in software development. Arlo has gone back and forth several times between management and in-the-trenches development on technically sophisticated products. He challenges every assumption he can find and helps people learn to change continuously.

It's the Puget Sound-area group for meeting and learning from others who are building software using Agile, Lean, and other innovative approaches.

We generally meet on the *4th* Wednesday of the month, unless we have a chance to grab a fantastic presenter on another date.
