Nordstrom Innovation Lab: 20 projects, 1 team, 1 year

As a 111-year old, Fortune 500 company that's built on delivery, Nordstrom
assembled the Innovation Lab to discover breakthrough and disruptive
innovations in a world where customer needs are changing at a record pace.
Finding a disruptive innovation is a rare occurrence. To improve their
odds, the lab must focus on building experiments with fast feedback
loops and strong ways to build empathy with customers. To that end, the
lab uses Agile development, Lean Startup practices, Design Thinking, and
Lean management. One of the most public experiments took place in the
sunglasses department in Nordstrom's flagship store in Seattle. Video

At Beyond Agile, the lab will share their definition of innovation, how
they use Agile and go beyond with Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and Lean,
and share a few stories along the way. In the spirit of Lean, most of the
session's contents will be custom-tailored based on questions pulled from
the audience.

Bios:

Marius Grigoriu
Marius Grigoriu is a coach and developer at the Nordstrom Innovation Lab.
In the lab he helps the team discover and experiment with new approaches
to software and solving problems.

Jason Wilson
Jason Wilson has eight years experience developing software in various
organizations ranging from a large airplane manufacturer to small video
game companies.

Kim Mason
Kim Mason is the team's Visual Designer. Primary focus includes leading
design charrettes, creating paper prototypes, high-fidelity visual
mockups, and design research.

Jennifer Berg
Jen Berg is the Innovation Lab¹s Engagement Specialist where her primary
focus is coordinating communication and engagements between the Lab and
the rest of Nordstrom.
