Hello All,

We will be having our usual 2nd Sunday of the month meeting this Sunday at Bobby G's Pizzeria 12pm-3pm.  I am actually going to be unable to attend this week :( because I am flying out to a week-long conference in Portland.  Grant will be running the show (as much "running" as usual) and will give a debriefing on our University Village installfest and discuss a possible ongoing LUG presence at the UV "Fix It" programs.

On Sunday March 28th, the BerkeleyLUG meeting will take on an Ubuntu-Global-Jam theme (the Ubuntu Global Jam is a global Ubuntu improvement/promotion event going on all weekend long).  We have a couple things planned: including taking comments and updating the tri-fold to the new Ubuntu branding, planning Lucid release advertising opportunities and Grant has volunteered to do a short demo on reporting, following, and triaging bugs in Launchpad (bring some bugs of your own to be reported in the demo).  If anyone has any ideas, projects, demo ideas - let everyone know and we'll add it to the event.

Cheers,

Jack

Would like to know the outcome of today's meeting at Bobby G's.
As today is a the starting day of the Sunday Streets in SF event
(http://sundaystreetssf.com/ ), I'll be at past of this instead of
being at today's BerkeleyLUG 12pm-3pm (PDT!!) meeting.

No one at the meeting yesterday seemed to know anything about this, I
am interested in attending this event (will be my first Ubuntu Global
Jam event on this side of the country!), is there a venue?

Thanks!

Hey All,

Sorry that there didn't end up being a discussion of this the meeting yesterday.  I am out of town, and I guess Grant (and many of the other regular members) missed the meeting as well.  The venue of the jam will be at Bobby G's pizzeria as usual (i.e. a pretty informal event).  So far we have a couple projects planned - updating the flyer ( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/172219/UbuntuBrocure.pdf ) for Lucid and Grant will do an intro to reporting, following and triaging bugs on Launchpad.

Any more ideas of projects or volunteers to do a short demo/presentation on a Ubuntu related topic?

I added the event to the Ubuntu Jams wiki page but have not created a separate page for our Jam yet.  If someone would like to organize that, please do; if not I'll create an agenda next week based on this .  I'll be putting some flyers up around campus next week and sending out an email to other local groups that might be interested.

Jack

"How to find help" is a common topic among new users, so if there is
interest I can do an introduction to help and documentation resources
in Ubuntu (forums, help files, IRC, canonical support, local teams,
books, wikis...), how to use them, who to trust, and how to contribute
back to them.

I went ahead and added it to the new loco team directory and on the
list at the Ubuntu California wiki:

http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/41/detail/
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Projects/LucidGlobalJam

Do we need a wiki page beyond this? If so, I can toss one together.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks!

Not sure if we need a wiki page for this or not; but I have updated the berkeleylug.com meetings page http://www.berkeleylug.com/?page_id=67  (We can fill in a more detailed agenda next week).

Most people in the group already have author status on the wordpress site.  If you want to edit that page, post an article, please send me your username and I will give you author permission.   (It is not automatic because of spam users).

Cheers,

-Jack
