Crazy problem

My son in law wanted to help get my boat ready and he wanted to help with the bottom paint.

There were a few rust spots on the keel so I told him to wire brush the rust spots, clean off and put some west epoxy on the spots to prevent rust.

While I was away he did a great job. However, while inspecting his work I noticed a shine on the caulking that is along the keel, hull joint. When I asked him he said he thought he saw some rust color peeking out from under the caulking sp he put a thin layer of epoxy over it.

WHAT DO I DO NOW.?

Leave it along, take off the caulking and epoxy. Just pray?

Will the epoxy pull off. The caulking? Will it just crack under load. What should I do?

I dont think the epoxy will adhere long term on top of caulk.  Think you should remove it, either now or at next haul out.

When I did my keel a few years ago a trouble spot was the keel - hull joint - I filled with 2500, then primed and painted with the rest.   I inspect it on each haul out and once had to re-seal a spot as the joint can flex a bit by design
