Christmas Social & Awards?

I think we should have a Christmas social. A proper one; for everyone;
where we go out; perhaps for a meal. Though if we get 30/40 people, is
a meal still feasible? I'd welcome ideas and suggestions, and if
someone else wants to take on organising it, that would be great.
(Pretty much everyone else would be better at organising this than
me!)

Also, is it worth having some sort of yearly awards? I'm thinking
something like, 'player of the year', 'best beginner', 'biggest
contribution to Belfast ultimate', or is this too self-ingratiating as
a collective? We don't have that big a player base yet, maybe about 40
people.

I don't think we should have more than three categories at the moment.
We can always increase it in later years as the player base grows.

I like the idea.

Back at the very start of Belfast Ultimate, we'd have an annual
Christmas social. I remember attending at least twice. Once it was on
the 20th December.

Its not important to me how complicated you make it, with meals /
awards / votes, just make sure there is an event of some sort.

We have talked about encouraging the small teams. Should there be an
award for best small team / best new small team?

Just offering encouragement, I can't really volunteer to organise anything.

i think it's a great idea. definitely a ceremony is needed for Summer
League awards at the very least.

i don't think anybody is going to disagree with this and if they do,
they're not going to go anyway.

is there anybody out there who would like to organise it? all you
would have to do is come up with a date (if it's far enough in advance
just pick one and it'll be fine for most), a venue and a format (fancy
dress or black tie? ticketed meal or just a pub? Award Ceremony or
not?). let us know if it'll cost anything and the jobs a good'un.
