Tuesday's Development Meeting

Like Adam dipped in treacle..... short and sweet.

1. Dates
Continue with Tuesdays being the princpal evening. We weren't sure
which dates to go for. A. Either start 5th August and have another
Super Saturday on 30th August OR B. 5 straight Tuesdays starting 29th
July. REPLY to this to let us know which you prefer

2. Entry
£10 per team to the second half of the league.

3. Away Fixture in Coleraine
If teams are willing, matches may be arranged to be played in
Coleraine but it won't be compulsory. It was felt that to reciprocate
The Swerve's dedication in coming all the way down here, teams could
volunteer to travel to them. Possibly a Saturday. REPLY to this if
you think your team is able to go down as soon as possible so a date
can be agreed and a schedule written.

4. Coed nature.
Teams will not need to be coed to continue within the league but it
was felt that every team should try to include male and female players
whenever possible. In addition there are coed considerations for the
possible All-Ireland Summer League Finals which I will put in a
separate post.

5. Spirit Of The Game
To ensure Spirit Of The Game continues at a high level, individual
Spirit scores from the first half of the league will be reported to
each team separately. In addition some guidance will be given.

6. Publicity
Press releases should be written for the start of summer league, Pete
representing Ireland (I've gone off this idea!) and Super Saturday -
Pete to write articles and make contact with Press.
Another Exhibition Day - Sat 19th July at the City Hall.
Flyers to be created and posited at leisure centres.

7. AOB
Half-time is at 20 mins.

Ok that's all the notes I have. Ob, Gary, Nuncle have I forgotten
anything?

For everyone please reply... and if you have any ideas or there's
something you would like to do (ahem.... press releases) then put it
up here as well.

I choose option B for point number 1. for two reasons ... it means it
is closer to start and also now that I'm married I have to spend my
saturdays shopping for scented candles and the like so 5 straight
tuesdays would suit more.

I AM willing to travel to coleraine to play, but unfortunatly as I
don't drive this discision cannot be left up to me. lol.

I am only speak for myself here but what do you guys have against
playing on Saturday?

I would have thought it would be easier to get a full team out on a
Saturday and it must be easier all round for Swerve?

I think that we need to make more of an event out of Super Saturday. I
know it was difficult last weekend because it was pissing it down but
we should have had an Awards ceremony or some sort of finish to the
day rather than have everyone trickle off their separate ways. It also
offers the possibility of getting some spectators down to watch
because most people are off work on a Saturday.

As far as playing an away match in Coleraine or Comber goes could we
not do a Super Saturday at one of these locations?

Could Swerve not organise an One Day Beach Tournament? I seem to
remember that BUG had originally planned to do a Beach Tournament
during the summer?

In either of these 2 examples above I would consider a Road Trip?

Pete, I think that's it all covered.

Personally I would prefer option A - have another Super Saturday. Two
reasons: like Andy said, to finish the league off on a big event, have
an award ceremony, allow spectators to come down (There were a few
spectators - parents and girlfriends standing out in the pissing rain.
Imagine how many could be persuaded to come down in decent weather on
a Saturday afternoon.) This could also be a focus point for press to
cover (if somebody would contact the press). Secondly, I'm sure Super
Saturday suits Swerve better than Tuesday evenings, but I may be wrong
here. On a side note, are any of the Swerve in the Google Group?
Because they really should be.

I don't speak for CHASE here, but I think it's quite doable for CHASE
to head up to Swerve for an away match. I think the idea discussed was
to have two teams travel up to Coleraine on a Saturday, and have
Swerve play two matches, thus saving them two round trips to Belfast.
I'll check with the rest of the team.

As regards coed recruitment, CHASE so far have not been able to secure
a female player for the squad. I think it will be difficult for us to
find one willing to turn out regularly. We will certainly try, but we
may have to either borrow a female player from another team or forfeit
a match if it's coed compulsory.

Press: Greamer and I discussed the possibility of contacting the Ards
Chronicle about the league. We'll take care of that one.

As regards the league schedule and format, the sooner a decision is
made, the better, and stick to the schedule as rigidly as possible to
allow teams to plan for their matches. I'll talk to my team mates and
get back to you on the road trip.

I'm all for super Saturday. It leaves some tension in the final
matchups with 6 points going either way. And as Andy said we can have
some kind of award ceremony or official roundup. On coed I think that
should wait till 2009, it's too late to force it on the league now and
when the league is over I think we should just concentrate on training
for tournaments in Autumn. CHASE are looking to go to Tune-up at the
start of October and hopefully we'll have a baddass BUG team to stomp
all over Cork in November.

I would love to go to Cork with BUG and so I think another batch of
shirts is in order. Is anyone interested in coming with CHASE to tune-
up?

I find your opinions on coed hilarious, its not that hard to ask ANY
girl if they wanna chuck a frisbee about. (I know a load of girls in
comber too, I'll even give you phone numbers if you want)

However, going back to what the guys said about super saturday, I have
to agree. It's more likely people will turn out (if the rain holds off
this time) and probably easier for the majority of players.
