I think I should post the job opening for ADI on the list, but require that interested applicants address their cover letters to the whole list and attach their resumes.  I will let people then vote on the candidates....What do you guys and gals think?

I don't think we've met before, since I don't normally go to frisbee, but I'm an "online follower" of Beijing Ultimate:)  I also share an apartment with Sandy and Tracie, so I get updated that way.

Anyways, I am looking for a job right now, and your email definitely caught my attention.  I was wondering if you could tell me some more details about the job.  What are some tasks you do on a daily basis?  Is the language in the office mainly Chinese?  How are the people you work with?  Where is the office located?  What types of programs do they run?  Is there a website I could check out?

Some more about me so you can see if you think I'm suitable for the position:

I don't have any environmental background, but I am really passionate about helping the environment.   I feel extremely worried about global warming, and I really try to do my part to stop it.  Back in the states, I printed out a checklist of small things you can do around your house to conserve energy and gave it to all members of my extended family.  I figured even though I don't have my own house, I can try to convince people who do to think about conserving energy.  Basically, I feel that environmental problems are collectively one of the world's most serious issues, and it is an especially frustrating one because it could be stopped so quickly if everyone cared.

Besides my environmental interest- you should know I graduated last year, so I don't have any full-time work experience.  However, I do have some part-time work experiences in the marketing field.

I've studied Chinese for 2.5 years, 5 months of which I live with a host family here in Beijing.  At this point, my Chinese is conversational, but there is still a lot of vocabulary I don't know, especially regarding business-related topics.

Although I have been trying to get into Public Relations here, I would be interested in any well-respected company/organization where I can gain meaningful experience with a reasonable salary.  I do like the prospect of working with Chinese people and improving my Chinese while working.

As most of you know, I am leaving at the end of this next month, and I am looking for someone to replace me at my job. It is an awesome job working for Conservation International China full time. CI is well-respected world-wide for their conservation work, and they have some really good projects in China. The pay is pretty good (it's not consulting rates, but at least they'd be using their time for the betterment of the world:). Please let me know if you know anyone with an environmental background (or who cares about the environment and is super dynamic) who is looking for a job. It is a great opportunity, and they would be running their own programs in addition to being the only foreign staff (so it would be great for their Chinese and they'd get free Chinese lunches every day). I'm looking for someone as soon as possible in the hopes of seamless transition....please let me know.

Dear Betsy,

 

Unfortunately, making out with Reid is a prerequisite. I thought that was pretty clear. I already asked Melissa if she'd be willing to, and she is thinking about it. Jeff's girlfriend is also interested in the position. He's not too happy about the prerequisite either, but that's life.

 

As Jamie suggested, I'd like everyone interested in the position to post their resume and cover letter to the group.
