== Translate ==
If you are interested in translating Beats to a non-English language,
please reply to this thread with translated versions of the following
two files:
http://beatsportable.com/static/testing/arrays_trans-r374.xml
http://beatsportable.com/static/testing/strings-r374.xml

In strings-rXXX.xml: <string name="*blah*">"*translate this*"</string>
In arrays_trans-rXXX.xml: <item>*translate this*</item>
Current translations: English, Italian, Russian

== Changes since r374 ==
- updated Russian translation
- added Italian translation
- completed osu! Mod beatmap patterns generator
- merged "Randomize Beatmap" settings as "osu! Mod Rand" game mode
- added reverse curved (Curve-R) tapbox layout
- draw grey boxes behind the info and score texts
- added more offset values in settings
- shrunk health bar size and score text size a bit
- force settings clear on app update

== Test and leave feedback ==
- osu! Mod implementation (how do you feel about the new patterns,
given your screen size and naturally greater difficulty)
- miss bug? (had reports of this before but weren't able to
replicate...)
- settings layout order (re-arrange some categories/sequence?)
- other stuff in the r374 thread:

Same thing-notes are appearing out of screen. Isuzu! Random works
pretty well,I'm surprised. Also,I changed transparency to 0.

Dutch translation:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B_X1qufK8UUOZWFmZTI2NjAtZmQyYi00YWVlLTkyYjUtMTNiZDA0YzAyZDk3&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

Dutch is generally not as concise a language as English is, so I'll
have to see how this looks in translation and maybe change things a
bit. Any feedback is welcome, of course.

On that note, how *do* you select which language Beats should use? The
phone's language settings?

I started out at 'awesome', so I'm pretty much already out of
superlatives, but osu mode keeps on getting better and better. The new
patterns really do feel as if they spread the notes around better, and
they make much more use of the entire screen.

... Quite a bit more so, in fact, as now occasionally a tapbox will
appear beneath the life bar or on the edge of the screen, so that only
half the box is visible. I haven't really had trouble with it, since
the boxes are still hittable, but I see others do have issue with it.

With numbers and more consistent colouring, random mode feels a lot
more playable, too (this might be from last revision -- last time I
mainly tested the pattern mod), but any song that brings more than
about four notes at once on the screen is still nigh unplayable in
random (not your fault!). It's a lot of fun on easier songs.

Fantastic work, again.

Another issue I hadn't noticed before. When I try to open a .dwi, I
get a nice error message telling me only .sm and .dwi files are
supported (I know DWI support is coming, but the message assumes it's
already there, when I'm crashing on .dwi files), and then, instead of
letting me select another song, the game closes to my phone's
application menu/desktop.

Maybe the game is supposed to do that? Could be that I missed it
before because I've been pretty good about only downloading .sm files,
but now I got my hands on a few DDR songpacks, and I didn't sort the
DWI's from the SMs, so I've probably got a few DWI-only files in there
and I don't know which.

I have done some changes on Italian language

http://pastebin.com/dFKYcK5X
http://pastebin.com/aDn5HgCK

On last beta there is a new osu! mode (when I tap on icon in main
screen), italian text are wrong, but that item is not on xml that you
have give me.

Main menu are not translated, difficult level top left and on bottom
during play too.

I have some ideas on new features.

How off-screen - full circles or just the edges of the circles? Able
to take a screenshot for example?
I'm fine with the circles being beneath the life bar because that
allows for much bigger screen space (and thus bigger patterns) - I'll
move the life bar to underneath the circles now. As for edge of the
screen. As long as at least 70% of the circle is on-screen, I'm fine
with. But if its any more than that, I'll have to make the pattern
sizes smaller ; /

Dead links ; <

No idea actually, you'll have to search around. I've pretty much been
assuming that the translations work cause I don't know how to test
them.

Random mode was redone to enforce equal spacing more.

Not much I can do cause that has to do with the stepfiles being made
for StepMania, not osu!. Each series of circles (of the same colour)
equates to a single measure in StepMania (a standard StepMania measure
has four quarter notes), but on harder songs with eighth or twelveth
notes, the circles will obviously become more cramped. I definitely
don't want to start removing notes (that would be modifying the
original stepfile's sequence) nor would I want to make the circles
smaller...

Yup, I added it, don't worry.

Main menu uses graphics instead of text, so they can't be translated
at the moment. I'll be changing that later when I do the interface
revamp.

Fixed.

The message is suppose to pop up, but not the force close... O_o
You should be getting a message saying: "Error: Failed to parse
stepfile: *blah* Error message: Unsupported stepfile: Only .sm
and .dwi files are supported currently" (note to self: remove
"and .dwi" for now...)
What error do you get and can you link me to the song pack thats
causing this crash?

Thanks again all for the feedback and testing!

Up to about half the actual tapcircle can go offscreen. I think it may
be that you calculate the position based on the centre of the tapbox,
and the position can go to the limits of the screen, yes/no? That
looks like it would explain what I'm seeing.

I wouldn't know how to take screenshots off my phone, sorry. Maybe one
of the others can help you with that.

They work for me if I copy/paste, but then I suppose that I'm the
owner of the document in any case...

Ah, it says 'available to anyone with the link', but it *means*
'anyone with the link and a Google Docs account'.

Let's try it this way, then:

Like I said, not your fault. Also, I do suck... I love it, but I suck. :-)

Actually, never mind, I'm being a ditz. Because that message stays on
screen fairly long, I habitually pressed 'back' to try to remove it,
and got back to my home screen. *facepalm* If I let the message
disappear on its own, I *can* select a new song.

There you have it. I iz stoopid. :-(

Ok, now you wrote "osu! Mod Casualità", instead it must be "osu! Mod
Casuale"

I have see that now there are ads :(

Anyway, in landscape the ads overlap last voice of main menu.

Ads were always there - ad money alone is currently what pays the
website's costs - very few donations atm ; <

Dutch translations added. I also figured out what was causing the
circles to sometimes go off-screen. I was shifting some rotated
patterns such that their side bounds go beyond the scaled 2x2 grid.
The shift checks are fixed/better now. I've also scaled down the W,
semicircle, and full circle patterns to roughly ensure that the
distance between consecutive beats is roughly the same across all
patterns (with the exception of lines, because lines are short ; <).

The specification for the patterns can be found here:
http://beatsportable.com/static/misc/Beats%20osu!%20Mod%20Beatmap%20Generator%20Patterns.pdf

The latest development build r405:
http://beatsportable.com/static/testing/beats-r405.apk

Translate these (as of r405, Russian, Italian and Dutch translations
are up to date):
http://beatsportable.com/static/testing/arrays_trans-r405.xml
http://beatsportable.com/static/testing/strings-r405.xml

osu! Mod is complete enough I think for me to make a demo video. Just
a bit more double checking of everything and I think 1.5b will be
ready (earliest release date would be Feb 21st since I'll be gone next
weekend for Katsucon 17). Do need to set up the song posting forum bot
though so I can upload ~500 new song packs (anyone familiar with
phpbb3 bot scripting?)
