Changing Fonts in Headline

Hi everyone,

I am trying to change the font of the title / headline section of my
poster. However, it seems that the poster has a mind of its own and I
can't get anything other than the default beamer font. I am using a
template that I found online, and it contains the following lines that
are related to fonts:

\RequirePackage[T1]{fontenc}
\RequirePackage{lmodern}
\RequirePackage{textcomp}
\usefonttheme{professionalfonts}

What I'm trying to do is to use the charter font since the mathdesign
package makes everything look nice. I have added "\usepackage[charter]
{mathdesign}" to the code in various places but the title/headline
seems to just ignore the command and continue to show up as the
default beamer font. Can anyone think of anything that I'm missing
here? I'm still fairly new to beamer and beamerposter.

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

Not fully sure, but I believe the style files might set the font directly.
Maybe you should try to mess with the beamertheme file that you are using.

Best,

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I
still cannot figure out why the font is not changing like I want. For
example, I downloaded your example files "example-style-I6ac.tex" and
"beamerthemeAachen.sty". I commented out the line that puts a logo of
RWTH Aachen University because I don't have that file. Then, in the
example .tex file, I changed "\usepackage{times}" to
"\usepackage{palatino}" and nothing changed. And if I changed that
line to "\usepackage{charter}", the title/headline font changes back
to the default beamer font. Is it just that some font packages don't
work with beamer or beamerposter? Or am I missing some important codes
somewhere?

Thanks!

Hi Brian, you should also check the beameruserguide docu (e.g. cf.
Fonts Section 18), as this problem is not directly related to
beamerposter.

Hi Philippe,

I read through the beameruserguide and it was very helpful. For some
reason, the headline font family was by default set to "\sffamily" but
I was using a serif font. I set the headline font family to
"\rmfamily" and everything turned out exactly as I wanted.
Thank you so much for your help!
