I have C3. i found that the EHCI port was too unstable under load for
use and so switched to the OTG port. i am still getting a crash, but
only once every few days. i see the following if i am lucky enough to
have something listening to the serial port

Ubuntu 9.10 beagleboard ttyS2
beagleboard login: [36287.212860] musb_ep_program 832: broken !
rx_reinit, ep5 csr 0213
[36287.226562] musb_ep_program 832: broken !rx_reinit, ep5 csr 0003
[36287.240112] musb_ep_program 832: broken !rx_reinit, ep5 csr 0003
[36324.299133] end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 646665719
[36324.325897] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.338928] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.351867] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.364837] end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 646665959
[36324.380035] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.393127] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.406097] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
[36324.418853] sd 0:0:0:1: rejecting I/O to offline device
then an endless stream of the rejecting messages (which makes it
impossible to log in via serial)

when this happens i the beagleboard looses network, but i suspect it
is still running ok.

I have not spotted a trigger yet. it has happened while playing a
track with mpd (low load and disk throughput), but also it can survive
hours of playing music, and copying files via ssh.

I am running Ubuntu 9.10, and 2.6.31.5-x5.3 from http://www.rcn-ee.net
. I have a USB hub in the OTG with a ethernet adapter and a hard disk
on a USB-IDE.

sam@beagleboard:~$ lsusb

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Any ideas what the cause might be, and what i can do.

Thanks

Sam

Haven't seen that error on my setup yet...

As a quick test, does 2.6.31.6-x6.0 make a difference? Only change is
adding th latest mainline patch?

This script would install it:
http://rcn-ee.net/deb/kernel/beagle/karmic/v2.6.31.6-x6.0/install-me.sh

What model is this usb to atapi adapter? If it's on amazon/newegg/etc
I'll pick one up and add it to my debugging collection...

i'll give the new kernel a go.

should i try with a different usb-atapi adapter?

the adapter was from maplin (uk electronics store), and looks
identical to this one
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=35057
the box calls it "SOHOUSB EASY IDE"has a partnumber B507EASYIDE, but
google does not find much for that.

if you can't find one, i could post one to you.

thanks

sam

Well i found this, the picture looks very simlilar so, i'll take a shot on it...

http://www.amazon.com/Kwell-Io-Uic120-Usb-2-0-Converter/dp/B000BSEZ3Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259275144&sr=8-1-spell

I would also try another adapter. There are a couple bug reports on
that vid/pid in google with redhat, might be just too cheap..
