New "version" and "vdd_io" flags have been added.

A subtle change now prevents camera from being registered
in the wrong platform.

Clock frequency of 57MHz used in previous version was wrong since
when VDD_IO is 1.8V it can only support 48MHz.

Two new platform flags have been added:

- vdd_io: indicates whether the chip is powered with 1.8 or 2.8 VDD_IO.
So that it can use the maximum allowed frequency.
- version: monochrome and color versions of the chip have exactly
the same ID, so the only way to select one of them is through
platform data.

Internal PLL is now used to generate PIXCLK depending on VDD_IO.

I get a decent picture now with the following:

media-ctl -r -l '"mt9p031 2-0048":0->"OMAP3 ISP CCDC":0[1], "OMAP3 ISP CCDC":1->"OMAP3 ISP CCDC output":0[1]'
media-ctl -f '"mt9p031 2-0048":0[SGRBG12 320x240], "OMAP3 ISP CCDC":0[SGRBG8 320x240], "OMAP3 ISP CCDC":1[SGRBG8 320x240]'

yavta-nc --stdout -f SGRBG8 -s 320x240 -n 4 --capture=10000 --skip 3 -F $(media-ctl -e "OMAP3 ISP CCDC output") | mplayer-bayer - -demuxer rawvideo -rawvideo w=320:h=240:format=ba81:size=76800 -vo fbdev2 -vf ba81

720p also seems to work.

It is really, really dark though. Is this due to missing controls or due to the laneshifting?

regards,

Koen

So mplayer-bayer is a bad test :) So what other tool(chain) can I use to display images captured with this driver? Ideally I would use mediactl to point the CCDC output to the v4l2 overlay, but I guess that would need some extra code in the ISP and omapvout drivers.
I heard it's really sunny in Texas where they will be testing this, so the mplayer darkness might be OK for there.

I suspect it is due to the patched mplayer.

I know this because I have enabled some custom patterns in the sensor,
thus generating pure red, blue and green pictures and they didn't seem
so when played through mplayer-bayer.

You could try the same if you want. Just to confirm.

No technical review this time. Relying fully on Laurent and others to take
care of that, just a couple of cosmetic points, which even checkpatch.pl
failed to warn about:(

Please, use TABs, not spaces

This is not the correct multi-line comment style. Please, double-check
with Documentation/CodingStyle. Please, fix all accurrances.

Superfluous parenthesis in all three cases above.

Please, indent the line continuation deeper, don't worry about 80
characters.

Do you really need explicit number assignments?

You could as well remove one TAB before "="

Too deep indentation

Don't see why you need to add these 3 headers with this patch.

Please, don't. Let's first get the simple version of your driver in the
mainline, then it can be extended. Just, please, make sure to address all
remaining issues without changing anything else:)

OK Guennadi,
I'll fix those cosmetics issues in my next version where I will add
VFLIP and HFLIP control support (which I removed previously to make
the code less complex).

Now we talk about controls I have a question regarding controls

defined in video subdevices like mt9p031 or mt9v032:

What device node should I use to set these controls through an ioctl() ?
For instance, with mt9p031 + Beagleboard xM we have:

./media-ctl -r -l '"mt9p031 2-0048":0->"OMAP3 ISP CCDC":0[1], "OMAP3
ISP CCDC":1->"OMAP3 ISP CCDC output":0[1]'
./media-ctl -f '"mt9p031 2-0048":0[SGRBG12 320x240], "OMAP3 ISP
CCDC":0[SGRBG8 320x240], "OMAP3 ISP CCDC":1[SGRBG8 320x240]'
./yavta --stdout -f SGRBG8 -s 320x240 -n 4 --capture=100 --skip 3 -F
`./media-ctl -e "OMAP3 ISP CCDC output"` | nc 192.168.0.42 3000

Where

root@beagleboard:~# ./media-ctl -e "OMAP3 ISP CCDC output"
/dev/video2

However, if I try to set sensor controls using /dev/video2 I get an
error (invalid argument).

Hi Javier,

I'm testing your patch on a 2.6.39 kernel. Here's what I get when loading the
omap3-isp module.

root@arago:~# modprobe omap3-isp
[ 159.523681] omap3isp omap3isp: Revision 15.0 found
[ 159.528991] omap-iommu omap-iommu.0: isp: version 1.1
[ 159.875701] omap_i2c omap_i2c.2: Arbitration lost
[ 159.881622] mt9p031 2-0048: Failed to reset the camera
[ 159.887054] omap3isp omap3isp: Failed to power on: -5
[ 159.892425] mt9p031 2-0048: Failed to power on device: -5
[ 159.898956] isp_register_subdev_group: Unable to register subdev mt9p031

Have you (or anyone else) seen that issue ?

I build in both statically to avoid that problem.

The above MLO and uboot enable the pullups and work will all released versions of the beagleboard.

Maybe u-boot version Laurent uses does not enable internal pull-up

resistors for i2c2 interface.
You could either use a different u-boot version or attach external
pull-up resistors to that interface.

So, how is it going?

Are you finally accepting the patches for mainline?

Sorry for the late reply. I've briefly tested the driver but haven't been able
to work on it. Please send a new version if you have one (with a description
of the changes since the previous version). I'll then test that and push it to
mainline through my tree (with a couple of changes if needed, I'll ask for
your ack before pushing the driver).

Laurent,
have you been able to successfully test the driver?

I've found some issues and I don't know whether I should send a new
version or just wait for you to mainline the last one and send a patch
later.
