Turkey and Libya have agreed on Tuesday to lift the mutual visa
requirements between the two countries, the Libyan prime minister said
after meeting with the visiting Turkish prime minister in Tripoli.
“Our two countries reached an agreement to end visa requirements,”
Libyan Prime Minister al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi told reporters.
Following his meeting with al-Mahmoudi, Turkish Prime Minister Recep
Tayyip Erdoğan also met with Libyan President Moammar al-Gaddafi in a
tent at the Bab-al Aziza Palace, reported Anatolia news agency. The
move to lift visa requirements complements Trade and Industry Minister
Zafer Çağlayan’s statements that business relations with Libya are set
to improve. Speaking to reporters in Tripoli on Tuesday, Çağlayan said
Turkey had assumed projects worth $21 billion in Libya to date and
added that the North African country promised business worth billions
of dollars to Turkish entrepreneurs.The Turkish government is
constantly working to increase Turkey's trade volume with Libya,
Çağlayan said, adding that Turkey had also reached an agreement with
the Libyan minister of public works to get together every three months
and focus on problems. There are areas in Libya open to Turkish
businesspeople, Çağlayan said.

Turkije toegetreden.
