Subject: 2011 AAH FAQ -- Special Notes Regarding Summer Courses
Grade levels:

- In most cases, it will make sense to choose courses based on the
grade your child will enter in the fall. However, we are also willing
to accommodate your child based on their grade level as of this
spring.

Courses with special schedules:

- Some courses have an unusual schedule, due to the instructor's
availability. There are two courses like this during the first
session, and one during the third session.

FIRST SESSION

1. Drawing 101 is taught during both morning (9:30-12) and afternoon
(12:30-3 pm) during the first week (June 27th-30th) only. We did this
to enable one of our top art teachers to offer the course. Students
who wish to take this course are thus committing to BOTH the morning
and afternoon, but only during the first four days of the first
session.

2. Ceramics 101 is taught during both morning (9:30-12) and afternoon
(12:30-3 pm) during the second week of the first session (July
5th-8th). We did this in order to enable the ceramics teacher to offer
the course during all three sessions, since the course requires the
same room as Drawing 101.

THIRD SESSION

1. Cool Chemistry is taught during both morning (9:30-12) and
afternoon (12:30-3 pm) during the final week (August 1st-4th) only. We
did this to enable an excellent chemistry teacher to offer the course.
Students who wish to take this course are thus committing to BOTH the
morning and afternoon, but only during the last four days of the third
session.

2. Model UN, which can only be offered during the third session, due
to the instructor's availability, is being offered in two separate
sections so that more students might be able to take this popular
course. Students can thus sign up for either the morning session or
for the afternoon session (but not both).

COURSES FOR 2nd-4th GRADERS

We are offering a morning class (Junior Math Exploration) and an
afternoon class (Junior Writing Exploration) for younger students this
summer. This is in response to popular demand, and the course design
has been refined throughout the year based on some of the younger
students who have been attending the Sunday math team sessions (to be
resumed in September or October).
