Electing B. Mulroney – (The Secret)

Have you ever asked yourself how after having only one Progressive
Conservative elected in Quebec (Roche Lassalle) during the 15 years
that Trudeau was in power, Quebec did an about face and elected Brian
Mulroney with a full slate in 1984? The secrete to the PC’s campaign
in Quebec was, “Let’s Hate Ontario!”.

I was a student at Laval University in Quebec City during that
election and traveled in the city buses daily. The other passengers
were quite vocal about the upcoming election. They had lots of ways of
saying it, but the slogan I remember was, “On s’en va à Ottawa pour
battre Ontario.” (We’re going to Ottawa to beat Ontario.)

I am not a gay and I’m not from Toronto, but I remember that after the
election guys would pass me on the sidewalk and say, “ On te renvoie à
Toronto avec ta que plein de sang.” (We’re sending you back to Toronto
with your ass full of blood.)

Liberal-socialism is a great idea so long as the credit is good and
other people pay for it. When the credit runs out and those that pay
for it leave, they can all share having nothing but debt and discontentment.
