I've ordered a couple of little American Chestnut seedlings,
which will have to be protected from critters from beetles to deer -- at
least in their infant years, till they get a good start.

My reading suggests something called "tree tubes," made for just
this purpose -- and sold mostly, I imagine, to orchardists, by the
hundred. Anyone know where, in or near Montgomery County, I can get just
two or three?

On the Internet, you can never tell who is a dog --
supposing you care -- but you can tell who has a mind.

Someone in another place suggested http://plantra.com/ -- it
looked good to me. I've ordered their smallest kit; and I recommend the
site to anyone else in a similar position.
