First post, I am grateful for any help but realize that it is not a huge
issue.
I get a daily log-file sent from my web based application and it contains
single log entries, 1 per line. While some are short and are visible when I
open the file, others are longer and get soft wrapped to the next line. I

Show Invisibles In Selection

I've always loved how Pages shows invisible characters (like line-breaks) when you've selected them, like this:

And I've always wanted the same thing in BBEdit. I like to see them, but having them always on can be cluttering.

A bolt of inspiration hit my brain today and I figured out how to do it, just turn on "Show Invisible Characters" and set the "Spaces" color to the same as the background (in whatever theme you're using. This is what you get:

Hello - I'm trying to work out a search and replace syntax to the following
numbers:
1,4
I want to add a "_" to the first number ("1_") and repeat to the value of
the next number. so 1,4 would end up being
1_1
1_2
1_3
1_4
I can't work out the syntax - can anyone help??

ePub files in a BBEdit Project?

Hello all,
I am trying to create a BBEdit Project that will contain an ePub file I'm
working on.
I can add the ePub file to the Project (it shows up in the sidebar) but is
not openable/editable.
I can open the ePub file directly as a file, but not include it in a
project.
Is this not possible? Is it planned?

AppleScript: How to determine what programming language document is?

Via AppleScript, can I ask BBEdit what the current document's programming
language is? I know that I can look at the name of the current document and
parse the extension of the file, but I was hoping for a more sure way, and
easier way, to get the programming language.

I just upgraded to version 10.5.3.
I find that when I open a file and do a "save as" it no longer defaults to
saving in the same directory as the original file. In the new version "save
as" defaults to the last folder where a file was saved. Is there any way to
set this in preferences?

Hi,
I was wondering if others have noticed a slow down in BBEdit lately.
Basically when I fire it I get beach balling and it takes a good few
seconds before it becomes available (this on a rMBR with 8GB of RAM). I'm
also using BBEdit with a project that has about 4000+ files. Clicking in
the Project view is painful (basically nothing happens for good seconds).

I'm using the latest BBEdit as of this writing (10.5.3).
Problem: sometimes BBEdit sizes windows such that the title bar is under
the menu bar and thus cannot be clicked. On these occasions the window is
also very tall; I'm not sure if it fills the full height of my screen but
it does at least sometimes.
