SlickRun was developed on Win7 Enterprise on a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard, and I've never seen the behavior you describe, nor has it ever been reported to me. What was your hotkey set to? Did that hotkey work properly?

Anyone have any suggestions?????

Thanks.

Hi,

I tried setting the Slickruns hotkey to several combinations using control, alt or shift with another character. The invocation worked correctly. Note that I was not allowed to use the windows key for creating my hotkey. I have uninstalled Slickruns until I can get this problem straightened out and I am not sure what the indication was. If I recall correctly the windows key was red and not available.

Thanks.

Do you have Lync installed? When i had Lync installed (which uses win+q), the windows key was red when win+q was the keyboard shortcut... That coup be what got you mixed up... My guess is that you had 'delete' set as your shortcut key after that...

YES, I do have Lync installed. So how did you get around the problem? I would really like to start using Slickruns and my IT guys haven't been very anxious to help me on this one.

Thanks.

You'll get around it by setting another shortcut key... (i use win+a when Lync is installed)

Hm. That didn't work for me. I tried several combinations of keys. But every time, pressing the delete key to remove characters always winds up invoking Slickruns instead.

That's the problem... You shouldn't press anything other than the key you want...

I think I need to clarify what I am doing.

I install Slickruns.
I configure a hotkey using some combination of <cntl>, <shift>, <alt> plus an alpha character. (The Windows key option is red and  not available.)
Then I go about my business.
When I am in any text-based program (Outlook, Word, Notepad, etc.) I position the cursor at a character or highlight some text. If I hit the Delete key, instead of deleting the text, Slickruns pops up.

Now what?  :)

argh. Let Windows key be selected, mark whatever is in the textbox and press A on your keyboard... Close window... Now your slickrun hotkey is Win+A

I had a major issue modifying the assignment through the setup.  I attempted just as you suggested to see if I could replicate his issue and I believe I may have, sorta.  After assigning the key combination in the options to Win + A, I could no longer use "Q".  The Win + A worked, but so did just "Q" - I couldn't even exit by typing "quit"; I had to right click, exit.  My suggestion is to exit slickrun and modify the SlickRun.ini directly.  I deleted my SlickRun.ini and started fresh changing the following:

[General]
GrabWinQ=0
BringUpKey=65
BringUpModifier=8

After I saved the file and opened slickrun, all was peachy again and Win+A was working.

I think I am OK now. I let the "control" key be <ALT> <WINDOWS> and threw a P into the letter box. Seems to work without wiping out the delete key. The problem may have been associated with trying to use other "control" keys. But I won't have the opportunity to troubleshoot.

Thanks.
