If they're the same ones, then one of the two links' pictures are wrong. In adition to the rod size, the height/length of the motor is much larger in the UltiMachine picture.

Secondly I've contacted them and they are willing to bring X number of cases to a meeting and we just pay them.

Is there a preference for time or location?  I think one of the regular meetings should work.  I live in the City, but I Menlo Park would probably close to most folks and be sort of in between.  Or if some that comes up to the city can pick up for me.

Once we get a consensus on date and location, I can let them know what location and time.

If you're reselling, you can bring a resale certificate and they will wave tax.

They only have 5 cases (80 steppers per case) left on hand, next shipment will be in December.

Update.

Looking through the thread I see an estimated high count of about 70 steppers.

Once we are sure we have the minimum, Sam will take our orders individually rather than having each of us go through me.

I can bring to which ever meeting we want, I don't see a Menlo Park meeting on the Calendar yet, but once I see one and we hit 80 steppers, I'll tell him to meet us there to pick them up.

I am pretty much done with the leadscrew, I was going to try without the antibacklash spring tonight at the meeting, but seems like I will need to get there after 9pm as I am not a member. Will you be there at 9?

The stepper is not really urgent, I'll look around online for one at a reasonable price, although Sam says www.PMT3D.com has them, and they confirmed they have them in stock, just at a higher price :)

I was looking for one to use on my second extruder, but I may just get a geared stepper from Phidgets and skip the wades.

I bought several spare steppers from Kysan, so I'm not in a hurry to get it replaced.  I'll bring it tonight.  Use it if you want.

I'm thinking about using smaller steppers for my extruders.  Kysan probably has some.  I know Trinity sells some.

I was planning on coming earlier, around 7:30-8.  I'm not a member either, but they let me hang out for awhile in the other room.  If not, there's a bar 1 block away.  We could go get a pint if you're up for it.

I'm new to this but done a good amount of research with a pending Prusa 2 build.  These steppers seem to be prime candidates for any printer/CNC build given their relatively high holding force.  Is this true?  I looked at the spec sheet and it says they come with 50cm cables... Is this correct?  Are the ends already crimped and plug attached?  Just wondering.

If you could get me 5 for around $60 shipped I'd be thrilled.  Alternately if you're really in the Bay Area I'd be happy to do  a local pick up.

Yeah, these motors are good for CNC machines. I know several people who have used those motors to make their machines. The cables are crimped and a plug is connected. I have a picture of one if you want me to email it to you. I have some if you guys want to buy (I'll sell them at cost $9.95 each) but Sam Wong is great to deal with so you can buy from him as well. I'm down to about 11 motors right now.

Not sure if everyone is aware, but on this (newest promo), there is a $1 shipping charge per motor.  This is not reflected in the spreadsheet.  Tim did post this information from the email sent out by Kysan USA (Sam).

Just be aware that the true cost is $10.95 per motor.  I'm not sure how Sam will handle tax.

OK, I've got good news and bad news for the group buy.

The bad news that they are not open on the weekends, so somebody else is going to have to pick them up during the week.  Also, you can only buy in lots of exactly 80 from the warehouse and we are at about 100 now.

The good news is that I've arranged to buy my motors separately from Sam as long as you guys buy 80, so that drops you guys back down to around 76ish.  So you guys should update your Google Doc spreadsheet and figure out exactly how many you still need.  I don't think we've heard from Alex G., so you might be able to take his 8 off the list.  Somebody check with him.  When you guys get close to 80 and get somebody to pick them up from the warehouse in SSF, let me know.  I can adjust my order to make yours exactly 80 so you can buy them.

Updated motor ordering spreadsheet to show adjusted price per motor of $10.95 (with $1.00 shipped fee).  This is entered as a variable at cell D2, so it can easily be revised in future. We still need to add the Sales Tax, as applicable, into the cost calculations.

Hi Ken, Alex, Tim et all,

I will be going up to SF on Monday (current plan) and could probably be involved in picking the motors up.  I may not be the ideal candidate however, because I live in Santa Cruz -- and my availability next week will be horrible to get them to anyone.   Is there a meet up at Techshop SJ week after next - and would that be a good venue for distribution?   I can also see about leaving a few motors with a friend in SF to meet at Techshop SF.     Whoever is officially in charge let me know if I can help.

I just got an email from Cindy at Kysan saying it is ok for me to pick them up from Sam after he gets back on 6/12.  Since he gets back on 6/12, I'm not sure if I will have them for the meeting that night or not.  It may have to wait until the following week's meeting.  I think just for simplicity's sake, let's do that.  Thanks for volunteering though Tom.
