Our support specialist Jessica Behling posted some clarifications regarding product search earlier today. If you still have questions after reading the post, please include your questions in this thread. Both Jessica and I will be monitoring the discussion and providing feedback for some common questions that arise.
Can you please explain to me why I spent $300 with a programmer to have GoogleCheckout put on my website?
I couldn't figure out why we've had NO GCheckout sales, then saw our thousands of listings in GBase weren't even showing that we supported the GCheckout. Further investigation shows that your rules say that Google base listings must NOT send customers to our website?
[quote]Do not include a URL with the Google Checkout option. Otherwise, your listing will direct buyers to your homepage, instead of a Google-hosted page that displays the Google Checkout button.[/ quote]
Why spend the money, time and headaches to have our website support your Checkout when we don't get any benefit from it? Just to have GC on our website hasn't resulted in a single sale since we've implemented it several months ago. All of our sales have been through paypal.
Its also not google's fault that you didnt make sure items carried the checkout support details, other people in the above listing did and reported it. i would be requesting the programming fee back ;)

Does the new system have to re-crawl our products? Since the changeover I have noted that products that show on Base do not appear on the new Google Products.

My apologies that you're having trouble with the Google Base and Google Checkout integration. The quote you included in your post actually only refers to providers using our Google Base hosted item pages. So, if you're submitting a bulk upload with the "link" attribute, this doesn't apply to you.
Also, the Google Checkout badge will appear alongside your items in our search results once you've completed at least one transaction. If you still don't see the Checkout badge next to your items after your first sale through Google Checkout, please contact the Checkout support team:

I listed the product individually at google base. I can search and find the item at google base, but not in the new google product search. Before you guys made update of froogle, my product were shown both at froogle and google base. what makes a difference now? what I can do to help show the item at both sites. Thanks!

I reported this on some other thread, but Chris from Google Base support informed me that they are still making the transition from Froogle to Product Search and that some individual items are not yet showing up in Product Search. He did not mention which items had this problem and didn't have a timeline, but did say they were working to fix it. In the mean time, as he suggested, I transitioned my items to a Bulk upload, and that seems to have worked fine. The only problem there is that you need your own site to have bulk uploaded items.

You don't need your own site to bulk upload, if you don't have a site to link to, just don't include the link attribute in the bulk upload. They'll make you hosted pages just like the single item hosed pages. You can also add checkout to these pages, just like single items. I found these (sort of confusing) instructions on how to do this:
You need to have signed up for checkout Include GoogleCheckout as a payment option for the payment_accepted attribute To create hosted pages with checkout do not include a URL and it only works for products or vehicles

As Sal suggested, I used bulk upload to post my single item. it worked perfectly. now the item shows at both froogle and google base. :). but the bulk upload (even you only have one item) showed up very slowly at either site. for my case, it took 24 hrs since I posted. there is no need your own site to host the item. the base will do it for you.

This is all true, and good advice. It is worth noting, however, that many of the fields available for individual uploads are not available for base, so if you want to include, for example, shipping notes or image captions, you must either do an individual upload or have your own site.

I agree, it does take awhile for bulk uploaded items to show up. Base seemed a little quicker to show my items. But product search was around 24 hours.
Sal- one thing to note about bulk upload items is that after they appear in your account, you should be able to edit them just like individual items and then you can add image captions or shipping notes or more attributes.

I think that the API requirements would be the same as other submission options, everything I've read about items showing in Base but not product search/froogle says to check three things:
items must be registered as products or vehicles products must include a price Products should not include the location attribute

I removed the location attribute and it has yet to make a difference. Do we have any updates on this issue? It seems pretty absurd that they haven't been able to correct this issue yet.

I'm a little unclear on which issue you're referring to. The individual/bulk issue has not been resolved (to the best of my knowledge). Google Base Guide, can you post a common roadblock? We seem to be answering this question a lot, lately. As for the other issues in this thread, so far as I can tell, they've been addressed.

I was referring to the issue of items listed in Google Base on showing up on google.com/products since the change was made. I removed the location attribute like it was suggested but the items have yet to show up on google.com/products.

If your items are uploaded individually, then no, this issue has not been resolved. If your items were uploaded via a bulk upload and they are not showing up in Product or Product Local, then you should e-mail customer service.

Thanks for all of your questions and feedback. I'd like you to know that we're currently in the process of re-integrating individually posted product listings into the updated Product Search user interface. We're aware of the issue, and please know that it's only temporary. We'll have a fix in place soon to incorporate your items back into our product search. As many of you mentioned in your posts, you may wish to consider submitting them via a bulk upload file in the meantime. You can learn more about bulk uploading at:
If you would like us to continue to host your items on Google Base item pages, please do not include the "link" attribute in your bulk upload. In this case we'll generate a URL and Google Base item page for each of your items.
If you are currently using item pages displaying the Google Checkout "Buy" button, please follow these steps enable Google Checkout for your bulk uploaded items:
- Be sure to include Google Checkout as a payment option under the "payment_accepted" attribute, spelled as "GoogleCheckout."
- Include the "quantity" attribute in your bulk upload. This attribute must include a value greater than zero so that users will be able to purchase your items.
My apologies for any inconveniences caused. We really appreciate your patience with this issue.

Hello, I am not a computer geek, so to speak, and do not have the time to constantly read blogs to find out why a website is not producing the results they originally promised. All I know is I followed instructions, answered the appropriate questions and submitted the results. Only to find nothing is working......My house for rent has been inputted into Google Base and shows that it is published but falsely enough it doesn't show at all in the housing search. Please let me know now if you are going to expect me to read more blogs to find out why I am not getting what google is promising. I have my house for rent listed on Craigslist.com as well as Hotpads.com and have not had one problem with it being searchable. I can look for other sites if I am expected to figure this problem out myself. Thanks

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding your item on Google Base. I actually need some more information about your item to look into this issue further, so I'll follow up with you by email.
For anyone else experiencing a similar problem, here's a tip on finding your items on our search applications:
1) Enter one of the following URLs in your browser:
You should replace the [your author ID] above with your actual author ID. To get your author ID, post an item to Google Base, then view the item page. The author ID is the number appearing after the /a/ portion in the URL of the page. For example:

I have several items posted on my google base (8) that are active. I can search them on Google Base but I can't find them in the product search. I looked at the FAQ which addresses the most common issues and I am OK with that. What else would be causing these to only show up in the Base and not the Product Search?? Thanks.

hey phuz, its actually a known issue. if you read the post from the google base guy in this actual thread, you'll see that you have to bulk upload your items for now. they're working on it apparently.
