Research on oil spill response incidents and natural resource management will be presented by planning graduate students from Rutgers University. These findings are from preliminary analyses and mapping conducted in collaboration with EPPR and a UN group. The students will be discussing their findings on two projects: The first project is an analysis of oil spill response incidents in the Bering Sea and Southeast and conditions affecting spill response. The focus is on emergency preparedness and safety for maritime spill responders. The second analysis looks at the broader issues of natural resource management, of opportunities and challenges and “lessons learned” for other natural resource-rich areas outside of the Arctic.
