Well, our 3rd one was on May the 4th one should be sometime around Jan'10, 3 years after the 1st one.

Any ideas?

Keng.

Perhaps BarCamp Bangkok is getting very very big, complex and became somewhat conventional...

Perhaps there might be different ideas about how to re-engineer BarCamp itself so it becomes fresh again.

Perhaps we could think about how to organize a more "Purposeful BarCamp" ?

Don't know how though. Just a food for thought.

Totally agree with sunit.

The 3rd one was too big for me and some of the others. What if we focus on what mades the 1st and the 2nd fun, and use it for the 4th one.

to me, bcbk3 is not that fun espectially during the night.

BTW I've noting against 'too big' , size and scalability are always useful, but may be there need to be some way to structure it so that it become modular or something that gives a sense of locality so that it doesn't stretch human cognition beyond its friendship capacity.

hope this make sense... :-(

Actually I am about to start trying to organize Startup Camp. I have a tentative date of Dec 7 that I'd like to shoot for. Specifically it is an open unconference - just like BarCamp but with a focus on building an entrepreneurial community in Thailand. The only significant functional difference is there are two special sessions for pitches on a big stage which will result in a monetary prize and that startups will each have a small display space for demos/networking allocated to them. I anticipate a lot of overlap by interested Barcampers as the entire concept was driven from the response we got about Barcampers trying to start businesses and get funding here in Thailand.

Anyone interested should read this blog: http://proteus-tech.com/blog/nexus/whats-new/ and contact me via email as sche...@proteus-tech.com. My company's group is a major organizing sponsor (as we were with Barcamp) but there should be no question that this is a completely open conference and we welcome (hope for) anyone interested in doing the same things as us there. Main focus is community building and education for startups and those who might want to be part of their own startup (and people who are looking to fund the same).
