Ok, I have a crazy idea. What else is new?

Who wants to spend 45 minutes to an hour sometime this week talking
about Javascript over lunch? No prep, no specific topic, just
bring-your-laptop-and-show-me-the-code fun.

Why am I sending this to barcamp-bhm group?

That's not a bad idea... but things are starting to get pretty busy
for me this week.

On the topic of Javascript: Prototype and Scriptaculous are pretty
nice, and even though they're spun off of Rails, you don't have to use
Rails to benefit from them. Prototype is a cross-browser base to code
Javascript.

Scott

Why not? What more diverse group could you get?

I think the CommonThread boys would be game...as long as it is not Wednesday.

Scott...we use jQuery almost exclusively now (which is yet another JS framework).

Sounds great! I'll bring jQuery and we'll have a play date (or a
religious war, whichever comes first).

And let's not forget Gears! *winks repeatedly*

Ok, who else? Wake up, barcampers! If not this week, perhaps next week?

Just let me know when. Keep in mind, next Tuesday is a UX meeting,
and the first Monday of each month Rubyham.

Here are some choices:

- Thursday this week (4/17)
- Friday this week (4/18)

- Wednesday next week (4/23)
- Friday next week (4/25)

Pick one!

Any of those days are fine with me.

Here is a link to a Javascript framework I am working on.  Right now it is mostly ideas with a little proof of concept code on the view and controller.

I'm in for some jquery talk. I've been using it a lot lately for some
cross browser problems. It has helped tremendously.

I'm headed to London on Wednesday for the Future of Web Design
conference, but I'll be back next week. If you haven't gotten together
by then, count me in.

I already tried to post this once, so if it shows up twice, don't
shoot me. Maybe it was a javascript problem. ;-)

*crickets chirping*

While y'all's are pondering the date, what about a good location? Any
good, quiet (we'll make them loud!) places lunch places? Possible
epicenters are: (a) UAB/downtown, (b) Vestavia Hills. Vote 'em up or
down.

I can suggest Panera Bread in Vestavia Hills City Center. Worked for
BarCamp lunches, so why not?

I haven't really looked at jQuery much.

Where should I start?

Wednesdays are always bad, so Ben and I are probably out, but Anthony could probably still make it if he wanted to attend.  Sorry...I didn't stay up with the conversation, so just stick with the momentum and I can try to catch you guys next time around.

All of the details are spelled out at http://docs.jquery.com/Main_Page,
good samples there, too.

Good intro presentation here: http://www.slideshare.net/teamphp/jquery-introduction

Count me in! We've been using Ext JS framework almost exclusively at DAXKO and it has worked out great: http://extjs.com/.

I'll see everyone there.
