NETWORK VISUALIZES OUR SURROUNDINGS
------------------------------------------
One of the greatest discoveries in theoretical explorations of our
civilizations is complex network. This study has mesmerized researchers
from many domains scrutinizing great deal of objects in our connected
age. The analysis of social network, internetworking, and more have
been depicting that we live in terms of connection.
Invigorated by our understanding on graphs and its properties, we can
now see that 'connection' between things can be referred to many
definitions of relation. Correlation, influence, referencing, and more
can now be seen in the term of connections. Researches in Dept.
Computational Sociology Bandung Fe Institute these days are mostly
discussed about how we can use 'network' as a powerful tool to
understand our social nature. The discourses touch the many aspects of
our daily lives. The idea is to use network model to extract
information in texts/literatures, financial fluctuations, inter-nation
monetary system, epidemiology of rumors, memetics, even in management
and innovation process.
Several releases of working paper series in the institute presented
this while the research process itself is still going on. One topic
among the interesting issues is on the usage of Minimum Spanning Tree
analysis on many circumstances, finance, macroeconomics, politics and
innovation. In the analysis of finance and macroeconomics, to have the
minimum spanning tree we transform the correlation of many time series
data into distances denoting the series as node and the correlation as
edges in the yielded graph. To adopt this into political science, we
use the ballot from the multiparty general election. This method is
also use as an alternative in the analysis of innovation using
cell-phone as a case of study to introduce the phylomemetic tree of
innovation.
The newest of this research is the analytical overview of several Asian
currencies. Here we can see the interdependence of currencies in an
economic region.

======== NEW RESEARCH PAPER ==========
There has been a new research paper published on-line in the
institute's web-page. As has been described before the paper use the
minimum spanning tree to extract the information from the correlations
among several Asian countries. We found that as well as implemented in
stock prices the currency tree shows the similar robustness by
observing the survival ratios of the edges. Interestingly, the yielded
regional tree also reveals the pattern of the clustered smaller
regional tree and how the monetary system of different countries are
interdependent one another over the particular region in Asia.
The paper is entitled: "Tree of Several Asian Currencies" and written
in English. You are invited to see the paper on-line in:
