02. BFI and SRI in JCIS 2006
Two papers of the institute were presented in the Joint Conference of
Information Sciences, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, October 8, 2006.The first
paper was presented by president of the institute, Hokky Situngkir,
entitled "Theorizing Corruption through Agent-Based Modeling" and the
second one brought by BFI research scholar, Deni Khanafiah, with paper
entitled "Innovation as Evolutionary Process". Both researchers also
happened to be the chairman in a session at the conference (CIEF,
Conference on Intelligence in Economics and Finance), the Session of

that enriches researches in the institute on the andvances of

03. TIKTIK DEWI SARTIKA IS NO LONGER BFI SCHOLAR
Board of Science Bandung Fe Institute has received and accepted a
letter from Tiktik Dewi Sartika, an ex-scholar of BFI, indicating her
resignment as a researcher in the institute on October 11, 2006. The
reason mentioned in her letter is her self-recognized incapability
issues on research activities held and established in the institute.
The letter was addressed to the Chairman of the department while in
return directly held meeting with the Board of Science. The resignation
was held for a while by the Board of Science while seeing Sartika's
evaluation for research commitment and capability. Eventually Board of
Science BFI acclaimed that the resignment was accepted by understanding
the letter's own reasons and the research departmental evaluation. This
resignment however showed the high standard of the researchers in BFI
and the dynamical evaluation held over time, while in return opened a
big open opportunity to some of young research interns in BFI to be new
researchers as scholar in the institute.

04. Special Issue of Journal of Social Complexity
The institute is now on post-preparation of the publication of the new
issue of the Journal of Social Complexity. This new issue is a special
edition since the papers included in this issue have been presented at
the Economic Science Association 2005 European Regional Meeting, held
in Alessandria, Italy (September 15-18th). Professor Marco Novarese
(Centre for Cognitive Economics, Università del Piemonte Orientale,
Italy) is the guest editor of the special edition. We will inform you
as the issue hit the readers.
