Hey guys,

Finally announced the 2012 Baltimore Hackathon.  Details at http://baltimorehackathon.com  and tickets at: http://baltimorehackathon2012.eventbrite.com/

$10 tickets include t-shirt and food for the weekend.

Prizes are currently $150 for individuals and $350 for teams.

Can anyone help in passing the info on to the other hackerspaces?

Can anyone tell me how this worked last year for the hardware projects? Were you limited to what you bring the first day
or could you go to the hardware store or run home to use a drill press during the day?

Thanks,

Kevin

You were not limited at all. Harford Hackerspace built our entire award winning project at our own hackerspace last year.

Yep, it was open.  Maybe we should have the Node open for that weekend, so people can use it if they need?  I think people will just have to sign in, and come back on Sunday for the presentations.  I'll try to get a list of rules/expectations on the website after the weekend to make this clear to everyone.

Along this vein, it looks like the CCBC Fab Lab has not yet posted
their June hours. I wonder if a letter from the Hackathon organizers
could encourage them to be open that Saturday.

I don't have any ideas for an entry but I'm pretty good in the shop and I live about a mile from
the venue, which probably doesn't matter. I have all the standard woodworking machines
and air nailers. For metalwork I have a drill press, grinder, lathe, vertical metal bandsaw, horizontal metal
bandsaw and basic stuff like taps and dies. So far I only know how to do basic lathe operations.
It's jammed packed and I can really only fit one person at a time in there with me.

If someone has an idea they think I can help with, let me know.

That would be great to offer that as a resource, perhaps at the opening of the hackathon we can announce it?  Maybe have a board for people write up available resources? Or a way to post it on the website?

I'll see what I can do about contacting the CCBC Fab Lab.

That sounds great. My original idea was to be available for any team but I didn't think that was possible.
There may others who think the same thing and would offer resources generally if they knew it was possible.
So the website might be a better way to get that idea out there vs. a white board on the first day.
