Gladys Noon Spellman?

Highway 295 from Baltimore to Washington has signs that say it is dedicated
to Gladys Noon Spellman. I am curious to find out who she is, but have not
been able to find her name in any general reference books. Does anyone
know who she is?

She was a Baltimore-area Congress-woman who spent most of her last term in
a coma.

She was a member of the U.S.Congress from Maryland (either 4th or 5th
Cong. District) who died of either a massive heart attack or stroke.
After her death the Baltimre- Washington Parkway was dedicated to her.
