Hello everyone,

It has been quite some time since we met! Let's meet this Wednesday, December 21st at our usual place. Although we don't have any talk this time (sorry, I'm working on it!), it would still be nice to meet and chat or hack on some Haskell code (I know that I have some Haskell code that needs my attention, but I never have enough time and attention to work on it). As a fun end-of-the-year thing I can propose we talk a little bit about all the Haskell (and maybe some cool non-Haskell) projects and programs each of us was working last year. Being able to show some code (or even a demo) would be really nice!

We can also visit one of the nice bars nearby afterwards if there are enough people who want that.

The meeting place is our usual place in SoMa, kindly provided by Engine Yard:

500 Third Street, Suite 510
San Francisco, CA 94107

Contact phone (mine): 650-762-6644
Host's phone (Larry's): 407-718-7665.

Please arrive a little bit earlier, so that we could start at 7pm sharp.

Some people will be going from the South Bay (and probably East Bay) to the meeting and back, so there's a possibility of carpooling. Also, it's very easy to get to Engine Yard from the Caltrain station (4th & King Str) and Embarcadero/Powell BART stations. Please send me a message if you need help figuring out transportation. If you are driving and can take some people from East/South Bay to the meeting and back, please send a message to the baha...@googlegroups.com mailing list.

Please retweet/post to reddit/forward this email to those who may be interested in attending. If you plan to attend and you're not yet subscribed, please subscribe to BAHaskell Google Group to follow all the discussions related to this meeting (if you have troubles with the captcha while joining, please send me a direct email).

Cheers,
Ivan

Ivan & Co.,

If you're looking for a topic for January, I'd love the opportunity to talk about Visi.Pro and the Visi language... all based on Haskell.  I can tune the presentation to the wants of the group (e.g., exploring the design choices in Visi, implementing Hindley-Milner type inference, etc.)  I can also offer space at 541 8th St if that would be helpful.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

I'm very interested in what you are doing with Visi. Would love to hear more.

David,

That sounds like an interesting talk, I'd love to hear it! Would the third Wednesday (January 18) work for you? If not we can do it in February, in case it's more convenient to you.

Regards,
Ivan

January 18th works just fine.  It'll be my first geek presentation related to Visi, so it'll likely be a tad rough around the edges. :-(

So who wants to or is carpooling up from the south bay?  I'm in Santa Clara now, but could drive anywhere nearby.  Also, what time would people be leaving?

I usually get a ride but it looks like I'll be taking Caltrain.  Probably 277 or 379

Well, if no one else is driving up, I'd be willing to drive.  I have no idea where to park though.  Been ages since I drove in SF.

Drew,

There's usually plenty of parking spaces right near the Engine Yard where we meet. There are often some available on 3rd Street, and usually even more on Bryant.

Zaki,

That would be awesome.  You sure you don't mind driving me back to Santa Clara? If not I'll take the 275 up, since the closest stop for me is the mostly-deserted Lawrence station.  If it's out of the way I can just take the train and bike.

I'm going to try to organize a Google+ Hangout so that we can have virtual attendance at the meetup.

I have a very good omnidirectional mic, a pretty lame set of speakers and a decent webcam. I'd say there is about 70% chance we can make this happen.

I'll post an invite the group when we get started.

This link to the Google+ Hangout should work.
