Bagshot Update - Jubilee Celebrations

Happy New Year!

I think we are gradually all getting back to normal after the Christmas a New Year activities. I have found it quite difficult to get into any kind of routine again .... and now it is 1st February!

 

Firstly, Bagshot Events, which has been a small group of villagers trying to promote the village 'happenings' for the last few years, and the Bagshot Business Association have now merged. This should mean better communication throughout the groups in the village and less meetings for us all.

 

Secondly, plans are getting underway for the Jubilee Celebrations  for Bagshot. We had a brief meeting last week to discuss  ideas which had been brought forward from other meetings and emails from other groups. Currently, St Anne's Church are organising a series of events around their Festival of Flowers, a Village Street party in the lower High Street with live music, is being planned for Sunday 3rd June and a Jubilee Family Picnic for Tuesday 5th June. Venue to be confirmed shortly. It is now hands on deck to make sure these events happen and that all corners of the village are involved. We are looking to have stalls at both events, so please email me if you want to book a stall or know of an organisation or charity who wish to become involved. To offset costs, a fee will be charged for stall space, but groups or charities will then keep their stall proceeds. If you wish to offer help at any of the events, please send me an email so I can keep you in the loop. It is likely that small subcommittees will be set up to ensure that each event runs smoothly. More details of those as they become available.

The Quiz Evenings at Hardys will resume shortly, the restaurant is undergoing a make over but so we will be first in there after it happens. Watch this space.

 

We welcome Mr Sales as the new headteacher at Connaught Junior School. Mr Sales is keen to ensure that Connaught is very much a part of the community and become involved in the life the village.
