Yes, that’s exactly what I meant J   

Unfortunately there is no way I will be able to make the August meeting nor will I be in a position to Skype it as I will be in the middle of a field near Stamford at the Burghley Horse Trials.

 

If it is possible to move the agenda for that meeting to the September one I would really appreciate it – its far too good for a summer meeting. (not to be read as a critiscm but as a desire to attend)  J

I agree with Mike: it’s too hot a topic to schedule for an – ahem – lightly attended meeting.

On the other hand, while I can perhaps make this week, I will be away riding my bike in late Sep. 

In Oct, on the other hand, we would have reports on this topic from Elsinore to chew over.

September will be a preferred timing for the proposed agenda - how do
the presenters feel about that suggestion?

Hi,

I am very keen to come to this meeting and bring Jim along as well.
Whereas I can not always get to these meeting because of work load, I
consider this agenda too important to miss.

I can make the 31st August and have already put it into the company diary
but can change to late September if necessary. October however seems too
far away, so my vote says the sooner the better.

Could we film the presentation and put it on line for anyone to see in there
own time as?

What's the agenda for next week? 

I’d be sorry to miss the web development session – especially having requested it! – but hope this year to make Elsinore, where I could catch up somewhat. 

As a less exciting topic for Aug, I’d be happy to show how I’ve been emulating K’s primitive @ index function to get string indexes for vectors and matrixes. Simple stuff, but pleasing: clean application code, free of numeric constants. Some notes attached. (For a colleague, but half way to a Vector article.)

A request for advice came from a self confessed "old dog" who's been
out of APL for a while as to whether APL offers what he needs for his
web development or should he teach himself PHP and MySQL?

A discussion of his plight highlighted by presentations from Dyalog on
some or all of:
"MiServer"
".Net"
"SharePoint"
"..."
Possible presenters being Morten Kromberg, John Daintree, Brian Becker
(via Skype if it can be arranged). ...

An attempt willl be made to record the session.

I wish I could be there!

Interesting article, Stephen.   My perspective is that you say

    French at 'dog'

and I say

    is 'dict.French.dog'

so you indeed have something there.
