Caltrain and 49ers

We had the misfortune of being on train 440 yesterday which stopped at
Bayshore to pick up a couple of hundred 49er fans.
For whatever reason, they opened only the doors to the last car, so it
took about 15 minutes for all the people to board and disperse
throughout the train. We were in the rear bike car and some of them came
in there to stand and were fiddling with the bikes and making comments
about stealing them (interspersed with their other obscenities).
One person I talked to from the game said it was much better than paying
$30 to park, since the train is free. He had no ticket but no tickets
were being checked. There was probably no way that that many passengers
could have even bought tickets from the machines.

There are 8 home games (usually) per year. Get a life.

Why would they need do? Most honest people who take Caltrain to sporting

events purchase Caltrain day passes at the station they originally board
near their homes. They wouldn't have any need in using the ticket machines
at the Bayshore Station.
And then of course there are the Caltrain passengers who have converted over
in using a Clipper Card.

distance to Stanford Stadium too. It's much closer to Stanford Stadium than
the Bayshore Caltrain station is to Candlestick Park.
