Embarrassing with ClipperCard

Last weekend I was trying to get on BART at Powell Station but when I swiped
my ClipperCard, I got a message saying "see agent." I tried again and still
got the same message. This entrance only had one turnstile allocated for
going in and there were people behind me so I walk over to other entrance
and still got the same message. I then found a station agent and when he
checked my card he told me that I was good to go and let me go in without
scanning. The whole ordeal made me miss the train and I had to wait twenty
more minutes.

I don't know why but BART scanner gives out a lot of "see agent" message
even if the card is fine, forcing me to use another exit or see an agent. I
just hate the glares I receive from other passengers whenever this happens
and I feel bad about holding the line even though there's nothing I can do
about it.

I have an old Translink card, and I haven't had this issue in quite a
long time. I wonder if the new Clipper cards are of lower quality?

If other passengers are glaring at you for one Clipper read failure,
and you get out of the way promptly, then they are idiots and you should
just ignore them. I don't start glaring at people having difficulty at
the gates unless they've failed twice and continue to try when there is
a line behind them.
