The International Sportsmens Exhibition is no longer held at the San
Mateo Expo Center, only at Cal Expo in Sacramento. What was once a
short drive plus a trip on Caltrain is now a much longer drive. Google
predicts their suggested transit alternative will take 5-2/3 hours.
(Bus to Fremont BART, BART to El Cerrito, Bus to Fairfield, Bus from
Fairfield to Sacto, etc. etc.) A twelve hour round trip is
unacceptable.

Can anyone suggest a way to get to Sacto that will beat this time?

Yes. There's a bus from the train station to CalExpo but I don't remember
the number.

From Fremont to Sacramento on the Amtrak Capitol Corridor train is about
2h40m. What is your (the OPs) starting point?

While I looked at the train, I ended up driving. To spend four hours
at the show would have meant a 12 hour day: Drive from San Jose to
Fremont, train to Sacto, then light rail plus bus to Cal Expo. An all-
transit trip from my house would literally take all day, leaving about
an hour at Cal Expo. Door to door was only two hours by car.
