Pondering going to the latest incarnation of Tapestry in Talent, at
Kelley Park, thinking to avoid the $6 parking charge, I went to the
VTA website. Because the "Community Bus" that runs near our house does
not run on weekends, our journey would start with a brisk 25 minute
walk. Another five minutes to walk from one transfer point to another,
and a mere 1 hour 21 minutes (and $4) later, I would be enjoying a
Christian Choir and karaoke.

Or we could drive, which would take 16 minutes.

=v= Kudos for the regional transit-funding agency that makes
motoring more convenient by dumping boatloads of money on it.

I've always been amazed at how VTA doesn't work. People on a tight
budget would find a bicycle to be faster and less expensive. Even if
you can't ride a bicycle, most would find that the price of their own
time makes a taxi cheaper. CalTrain express cars are only public
transportation around here that I find worthwhile.

For my mother to take VTA from her house to her church, it would take
between 45 minutes to one hour and 15 minutes depending how long she has to
wait for the connecting bus. She lives less than two miles from her church.
It never takes me more than 10 minutes (usually just 8 minutes) to drive
her there from her house.

Try the wheels system in Pleasanton/Livermore. Much worse then VTA
since a LOT of area has no bus line nearby.
