Went to SF today for traditional beginning of shopping season. Parked
in the nabes and took the streetcar downtown. Much to my surprise, at
the Montgomery stop, inspectors asked to see our Proof of Purchase.
After whipping out my transfer, I asked how long this had been going
on. He said since 1999.

I admit I am only a very occasional Muni rider, but even so,
inspection seems rare. Frequent riders: About how often does this
happen? More often in off-hours than rush hour? What about weekdays
vs. weekends?
