"You're in probably the wickedest, most corrupt city, most
Godless city in America." -- Fr Mullen, "San Francisco"
Did something happen to the bridge?!?
I think the only civilians who'd be in position to see anything would be
riders of the various Oakland-San Francisco ferries. Like the Houston
Rockets, apparently:

But even that route might be too far to see anything interesting (at
least unaided).
My schedule has been a bit off, so I can't say whether it's more or less
crowded than when I usually travel. But yesterday morning at around
8am, going from San Francisco to East Bay, the train was very crowded to
Montgomery, and still fairly crowded (though no standees in my car) to
Oakland. The late afternoon (~3.30pm) was similar yesterday and today.
This morning, I travelled at around 9:45am, and it wasn't too crowded.
