``Continuous Speech Recognition Using Connectionist Statistical Methods''
The ICSI continuous speech recognition project is based
on a connectionist---hidden Markov model hybrid approach.
In this talk I shall discuss the theory underlying this
approach, highlighting the differences to conventional HMM
approaches. I shall also discuss various practical issues
that proved to be essential in developing a high-performance
system. In the second part of the talk, I shall discuss
recent advances in this research and summarise some recent
experimental results. I shall endeavour to make this talk
accessible to non-specialists.
This talk will be held in the Main Lecture Hall at ICSI.
