Hi, Everyone:
Last week, I spent a few hours at the beach in Lands End park in San Francisco, walking at the sandy part of the beach close to the water that was rising with the tide.
Not until I decided to leave did I notice that each of my sole was stuck with several patches of pitch-black stuff. I was not sure what it was exactly, but it was very thick and sticky, and it was absolutely impossible to wash away it with the seawater. After I got back, it took me more than half an hour to completely wash it off with the help of a foot file. The viscous black stuff could be asphalt/bitumen, or pitch, or tar as far as I can tell, but I could be wrong.
Has anyone had this experience at the beach? Could you tell what it was and how it found its way there?
Thank you!
