I rarely want to communicate with the owners of a restaurant. Rather, I
want to "tell the world" what I think. I think I'm not alone. Those who
write Yelp reviews and say a place is "bomb" or "yummy" (those darned
kids!) are doing so to communicate a larger message, not giving
feedback to an owner.
As it happens, the handful of Yelp reviews I've written have been
mostly positive.
I have no interest in telling the owner of Riva, for instance, that the
calamari is good. I'm trying to encourage others to give it a try.
Which is actually more helpful to the owner than telling him the
obvious.
