I have Comcast cable TV. In my area, HLN is on channel 57 if you have
Comcast. I think that's what it's called (HLN). Anyway, the name is
beside the point.
I often find myself watching and enjoying channel 57 when all of a
sudden Maggie Scura's little show, "Comcast Newsmakers" interrupts the
show I'm enjoying. Usually her show is good too but I don't like it
coming on in the middle of something else. Her interviews are
interesting. But I really dislike Comcast putting her or anyone on
during other shows. I wonder why they do that and how Maggie feels
about the fact that anytime that she's on, she's gonna piss someone
off just by being there even though she's interesting and decent
looking.
I wanted to hear Vincent Bugliosi yesterday during JVM and the last
several minutes of the show was lost to Maggie's thing

Unless something different has been happening in your area, this has
been going on for years. The main host is former KGO reporter Jack
Hanson.

I agree that covering up five minutes of a cable channel's feed is
not ideal, but considering the level of fluff that HNN is usually
in by :24 and :54, you aren't missing much.

BTW, you can get the schedule here: http://www.norcalnewsmakers.com/.

Can you get KLIV where you live? They mostly simulcast Headline News.
I don't know if they ran the show you wanted or not, because I
couldn't find a schedule on their website.

This Comcast 'public service' show, whether hosted by Jack or Maggie, has
always been local government/local nonprofit public-relations
fluff....currying favor with local pols by making them stars for 5-minutes.

Simultaneously, Comcrud does their best to undermine local-access
stations....raise rates with impunity...lobby at all government levels to
protect their monopolies....replace real channels with dross...

Sorry to rant. But I see red everytime I see this come up on HLN.

Actually, very few of the people they interview are politicians,
and few are people that any of us would know. They're mostly
spokespeople for nonprofit groups. If you want to call that "fluff,"
go ahead, but I know some groups that have been on Newsmakers and
are grateful for the free publicity.

Yes, I get KLIV. I had forgotten that they played the HLN. Or maybe
they stopped for a few years and I didn't realize that they began
again. It seemed like every time I checked. It wasn't HLN anymore.
Thanks for reminding me.
I used to check sports (tennis) results on KLIV at 20 after and 10 til
each hour back when HLN did updates at those times.
Wasn't KLIV a talk station for a few years in the 90s? I think they
also aired the entire OJ trial or a huge % of it live.
I remember when KLIV was amusic station.
