WELCOME! to the San Jose Astronomical Association's Calendar Hot Line.

Following is a list of all the activities of SJAA. You are invited
to any and all of them! Driving directions will be given afterward.

May 23 - Saturday - Dark-Sky weekend. Get away from the city lights
to enjoy the night sky. Sunset is at 8:16 pm.
The moon is not visible tonight.

May 29 - Friday - Public observing session on the grounds at Houge
Park, featuring the 41% moon, Saturn, and show objects of the
spring sky. Star party hours: 9:30 until midnight.

June 6 - Saturday - General Meeting. Our speaker is our own Rod
Norden (SJAA) who will tell us about the Pioneer 10-11 missions
In the hall at Houge Park, 8:00 pm.

Jun.12 - Friday - Our beginner's astronomy class meets. Topic to
be announced; it's sure to be interesting.
In the hall at Houge Park, 7:30 pm.

Also on June 12 --

Jun.12 - Friday - Public observing session on the grounds at Houge
Park, featuring Saturn and the show objects of the summer sky.
The moon is absent. Star party hours: 9:30 until midnight.

Jun.20 - Saturday - Summer begins at 10:45 pm PDT

Also on June 20 --

Jun.20 - Saturday - Dark-Sky weekend -- get away from the city
lights, to enjoy the night sky. Sunset is at 8:31 pm.
The tiny 3% moon rises at 4:19 am. Look for it to the ENE sky.

Jun.26 - Friday - Public observing session on the grounds at Houge
Park, featuring the 26% moon, Saturn, and show objects of the
summer sky. Star party hours: 9:30 until midnight.

Jul.11 - Saturday - General Meeting. Our speaker is Norm Sperling,
based on his new book, "This Book Warps Space and Time".
In the hall at Houge Park, 8:00 pm.

Jul.17 - Friday - Our beginner's astronomy class meets, the topic
to be announced. In the hall at Houge Park, 7:30 pm.

Jul.17 - Friday - Public observing session on the grounds at Houge
Park, featuring Saturn and the show objects of the summer sky.
The moon is absent. Star party hours: 9:30 until midnight.

Jul.18 - Saturday - Dark-Sky weekend -- get away from the city
lights, to enjoy the night sky. Sunset is at 8:26 pm.
The small 11% moon rises at 3:01 am. Watch for it in the
northeast sky.

DIRECTIONS

Houge Park is in San Jose, near Campbell and Los Gatos.

From Hwy.17, take the Camden Avenue exit. Go east 4/10 mile, and
turn right at the light, onto Bascom Avenue. At the next light, turn
left onto Woodard Road. At the first stop sign, turn right onto
Twilight Drive. Go three blocks, cross Sunrise Drive, then turn left
into the park.

From Hwy.85, take the Bascom Avenue exit. Go north 0.2 miles, and
turn right at the first traffic light, onto White Oaks Road. Run
another 0.2 miles to the first stop sign, then turn left onto Twilight
Drive. You will now be passing the park. Turn right at the first
driveway, into the parking lot.

Let me repeat that all of our events are open to anyone interested
in the celestial science. No reservations needed,
We supply telescopes, or bring your own.
