NOTE:
We have several special dance opportunities this Saturday, the 25th.
It's Bay Area National Dance Week, and BACDS is participating by organizing
free English and Contra dance introductory sessions at the Oakland Free
Dance Festival on Lake Merritt, at the Oakland Veterans Hall
200 Grand Avenue Oakland at Harrison.
The whole festival is organized by Scott Gamble of Friday Night Waltz, and
info is at http://www.fridaynightwaltz.com/#OaklandFreeDanceFestival
Erik Hoffman leads an introductory contra dance from 5-6pm with music by
Debra Tayleur and friends; Sam Weiler brings English dance at 6 with Stan
and Susan Kramer and friends.
We encourage experienced dancers in either genre to come to those classes
and be "dance angels", helping to show newcomers a good time. While you're
at the Oakland Free Dance Festival, you can enjoy other classes in many
different dances forms, mostly couple dances.
After your sessions, you can go to the Experienced English dance in Berkeley
with Sam Weiler, music by Rebecca King, Judy Linsenberg, and Erik Ievins, or
Saturday night in Palo Alto, we have a Special Youth Initiative dance:
Contra Plus! with Bob Carragher and Graham Waldon. This will be a special
and memorable evening.
NOTE, again: Next week, many BACDS-related display dance teams will dance the
sun up on Friday, May Day, at various locations around the Bay Area. Please
check out www.bacds.org/mayday for details.
