One of the participants wondered whether or not it would be more efficient to organize Big6 by the Month lessons by content area, for example March focuses on Math,
February on Reading etc. throughout the whole school? The Big6 by the Month team responded that it's worth thinking about, but Mike said, "I don't think you can have students work on all Big6 stages in a single month." Colet remarked, "One of
the strengths of this program is that we make the connection of the process
skills ACROSS all curricular areas, especially when we look at the Common Core
ELA and Literacy standards with the CC Mathematical Practice Standards."
In other words, how would you ensure consistency in teaching and applying each of the Big6 information problem solving process stages in all curricular areas throughout the school if you focus on only one content area each month? Let us know what you think.
