As for free camping, try the Walmart on Florence Blvd. It's just down the
street from the start at the bike shop. Be aware there are signs posted in
the parking lot that overnight parking is not allowed. On the other hand,
it's a 24-hour store, so how do they even know who is sleeping out there?
Last year I asked the Casa Grande police about the parking restriction and
they said it comes from Walmart. Then I called Walmart and they claimed it's
not their rule, that it comes from the police.
I've had friends sleep overnight in Walmart in their cars and in a travel
trailer without any problems. So that's why I think it will work out for you
as well. If it makes you feel more comfortable to park with others, the
overnighters seem to congregate on the west side of the parking lot
(farthest away from I-10)
Also be aware that the rest of the town is strictly monitored. You cannot
park an RV on the side of the road anywhere in that town and live in it. You
can't even be living in an RV on private property.
