How to send mails in Unicode TAMIL to online groups like 'Azhagi'? 

 

Instructions in English below

(Immediately following the English instructions are the same instructions in Tamil, but concisely)

(உங்கள் கவனத்திற்கு: ஆங்கில விளக்கங்களுக்குப் பிறகு,  அதே விளக்கங்கள் தமிழிலும் தரப்பட்டுள்ளன - சுருக்கமாய்). 

 

Azhagi is the easiest (http://easy.azhagi.com) and most natural (http://docs.azhagi.com) Tamil transliterator, as of now. Using Azhagi (FREE download at http://free.azhagi.com), there are various methods by which you can generate Unicode Tamil content. You can choose the one which is convenient for you.

 

Method (a)

After starting Azhagi, press 'F8' or click on the button captioned 'Unicode Editor' (same as clicking 'Azhagi's Unicode Editor' menu item under 'Tools' menu of Azhagi) and you can type in Unicode Tamil as much as you want. You can then save and copy/paste this Unicode text to any other external application, including IE(Internet Explorer)/Firefox/GoogleChrome windows. Method (b)

Type in the main editor window of Azhagi in Tscii (non-unicode) in either 'dual' or 'single' screen mode. After you finish typing*, click on the button captioned 'Convert text below to Unicode'. The conversion will take place (in just a few milliseconds). The converted Unicode text  will appear in a new IE window as an html document and you can then copy/paste this Unicode text to any other external application, including IE(Internet Explorer)/Firefox/GoogleChrome windows. (*) It is better you save your text after you finish typing so that you can access it later for editing again.

 

Method (c) 

Press 'F10' and effect 'Direct Typing' in Unicode Tamil in any application like Notepad, Wordpad, MS-Word, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Outlook Express, MS-Excel, MS-Powerpoint, MS-Access, MS-Outlook, Blogs, Search Engines (e.g. Google Search) etc. etc. You can type directly in an IE(Internet Explorer)/Firefox/GoogleChrome window too. For e. g. Visit our 'azhagi' group online (at http://groups.google.com/group/azhagi). Therein, click on the button captioned '+ new post', press 'F10' and start typing directly in the subject/message area in Unicode Tamil. To see screen snapshots, visit the following:

Method (d) 

Using Azhagi's Auto-Transliteration feature, you can convert any text in Tanglish (i.e. texts such as 'ungal kavidhai nandraaga irundhadhu... ... ...' ) in seconds to Tscii (non-unicode)  text. Thereafter, using Method (b), you can convert the same to Unicode Tamil and use it wherever you want. To know how to effect 'Auto-Transliteraion', after starting Azhagi, click the down arrow button in the list box captioned 'Features, Preferences'. Scroll down the list box and select 'Auto-Transliteration: Transliterate existing English texts'. The help topic on 'Auto Transliteration' will get displayed to explain about it.

 

NOTE-1:

If at all you experience any problems (like seeing questions marks, squares etc.) while trying to type in Unicode Tamil, you will need to enable certain settings. For instructions on how to effect them, please see http://azhagi.com/uniset.html or read Azhagi's help topics on Unicode (click on 'Help->Unicode Help' after starting Azhagi) or just do the following:-

After  starting Azhagi, click on the button captioned "Open any external application. .... Press 'F10'. Start transliterating in Tamil. As simple as that. ...". A document will open from within Azhagi and it will give all details step-by-step with clear-cut snapshots. Patiently go through them and once you understand those simple steps, then typing in ANY external application in Unicode Tamil thereafter is just a matter of pressing 'F10'. Yes, it is indeed as simple as that.

 

NOTE-2: 

Azhagi's Help is extensive and can give you information on anything you need to know on Azhagi. To access Azhagi's Help documents, you can press 'F1' or click on 'Help-Contents' at any time you are in the 'Azhagi' application window. Once in the 'Help' window, you can search for help based on any keyword too, say 'emailing in tamil,' and read any of the topics which are displayed.

நீங்கள் அழகியை உபயோகித்து, பல வழிகளில் யூனிகோட் தமிழ் உரைகளை உருவாக்கலாம். உங்களுக்கு எந்த முறை சௌகரியமாக இருக்கிறதோ, அதைப் பின்பற்றவும்.

 

Method (1)

அழகியைத் துவக்கிய பின்,  'Unicode Editor' பட்டனைக் கிளிக் செய்து அழகியின் யூனிகோட் எடிட்டரில் டைப் செய்து அதனை இ-மெய்ல் (நேரடியாகவோ அல்லது copy/paste மூலமாகவோ) செய்யுங்கள். இதன் திரைப்பதிவு (screen snapshot) காண - http://azhagi.com/pics/azp-screen-unieditor-cd.gif

 

Method (2)

அழகியின் main editor screen-இல் திஸ்கியில் டைப் செய்து, 'Convert text below to Unicode' என்ற பட்டனைக் கிளிக் செய்து திஸ்கி எழுத்துக்களை யூனிகோடிற்கு மாற்றி (millisecondsஇல் மாறி விடும்), அதனை மடலாக அனுப்பவும். இதன் திரைப்பதிவு (screen snapshot) காண - http://azhagi.com/pics/azp-screen-conv2uni-cd.gif

 

Method (3)

நேரடியாக உங்கள் 'browser window'-விலேயே 'F10' அழுத்திய பின் யூனிகோட் தமிழில் ஒலிபெயர்த்து, அதனை அனுப்பவும். இதற்கு, அழகியைத் துவக்கியபின்  'Open ANY external application... Press 'F10'. Start transliterating in Tamil. As simple as that. ...' என்ற பட்டனைக் கிளிக் செய்து விவரங்கள் படிக்கவும். நிறைய திரைப்பதிவுகளுடன், படிப்படியாக, எல்லாமே விளக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சில உதாரணத் திரைப்பதிவுகள் கீழே:

Method (4)

அழகியின் 'Auto-Transliteration' உதவியுடன், ஒருவர் தமிங்கிலத்தையும் (tanglish i.e. texts such as 'ungal kavidhai nandraaga irundhadhu... ... ...' ) நொடியில் திஸ்கி தமிழுக்கு மாற்றி அதை மீண்டும் method(2) மூலம் யூனிகோடிற்கு மாற்றி அதை எங்கு வேண்டுமானாலும் உபயோகப் படுத்திக் கொள்ளலாம். 'Auto-Transliteraion' செய்வது எப்படி என அறிய, அழகியைத் துவக்கிய பின், 'Features, Preferences' எனும் அட்டவணைப் பெட்டியைக் (list box) க்ளிக் செய்யவும். பின்னர், அதில் 'Auto-Transliteration: Transliterate existing English texts' என்பதைத் தேர்வு செய்யவும். அது குறித்த உதவிப் பக்கம் உங்கள் பார்வைக்கு வைக்கப்படும். படித்தறிந்து கொள்ளவும்.

 

முக்கியக் குறிப்பு:

1) ஆங்கில விளக்கங்களின் கீழே முக்கியமான சில குறிப்புகள் (Note-1 to Note-6) கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. படித்து பயன் பெறவும்.

2) அழகியின் செயல்பாட்டை எடுத்துக்காட்டும் பற்பல திரைப்பதிவுகள் http://azhagi.com/snaps.html என்ற பக்கத்தில் உள்ளன. பார்க்கவும்.
