I am about to visit Scotland from Australia, and I know that my g/grandparents left Cumnock in 1854 to immigrate to Australia.Their names were John Mackervail [multiple spellings of this name] and his wife Henrietta Templeton. He was born in Dingwall but there were quite a few Mackervails in Cumnock at that time. His wife, Henrietta Templeton was born at Auckinleck to James and Jean [MN Thom] Templeton, but other than that, can find no more records of Henrietta's family.
Can anyone direct me to local sources that may be able to help?
I would be very grateful to receive any hints.
Thankyou

I know of a Templeton family in Auchinleck who were farmers, went to school with their son Tom . They live in Barlachan Farm. May be related.
