Hi all,
Many thanks to you for your help for the information about Pitt no3.
I have finished my book "Coal in my Blood" about mining in Scotland, then on to Ohura a small country village in the center of the north Island in New Zealand. The book is about the Tatu State mine and my stories of a young boy growing up in the village in the 1940`s. If anyone is interested in this book I am selling it for NZ$50.00 plus air postage.
Thanks,
John Cairns.

Live in Ayrshire,Scotland.Do you know anything of a family called Youll.I
think they came from rural farming near Launceston Tasmania.

Jimmy Youll was a comrade of mine in 1947,never heard of his demise.

Hi John,

I am David Bunting, middle son of Les. I am not sure when he started at the mine. I am just reading your book - very happy memories. I have some old film of Ohura and photos I could share with you if you are interested.
Thanks

Hi Dave,

Good to hear from you, yes I worked with your father Les and your mother I think was Jo?

I will look at my records, but I would think Les worked at Tatu mine from about 1948.

You could contact me on johnc...@ihug.co.nz  Were do you live.

Cheers, John
