Hi,

I'm researching this family and have gotten back as far as my 5th
g.grandparents, William Finnie & Ann Boyd, who were married in
Ardrossan in 1745...who are my "brickwall".

I understand from an article in the Kilmarnock Standard (1883) that
the family originally went to Kilmarnock from Constablewood and that
related branches of the family lived and died at Millport on Cumbrae.

I have been downloading newspaper articles relating to the family and
noticed that a few of them lived and died at Annbank.

I'd love to hear from anybody who has any information at all regarding
this family, as well as any information relating to the history of
Annbank.

Kind regards,
Lynne.

Hi: I am in the United States and I am a descendant of Hugh Campbell of
Galston. I know he married Mary Patterson, in 1706; they had nine
children. Hugh and his son Andrew emigrated to the United States, do not
know how they left or from where. Possibly went to Ireland. However they
arrived and Andrew married Ruth Dexter Stebbin in 1706 in Connecticut. I am
trying to fill in the blanks. Hugh and Mary were married in Galston and
announced their banns in Sorn. Any information you may be able to send me
will be most appreciated. jean...@gmail.comOriginal Message -----

Hi Lynne
If you look in the bibliography in the ayrshirehistory.org website you'll find a PDF file of Ayrshire Notes number 41 from spring 2011. There is an article about the Finnie family which might be of help.

Hi Chris,
I have photos of every visible Gravestone in all the Kilmarnock Cemeteries and have found  7 Finnie gravestones in Kilmarnock High.
Let me know if you are interested in them.
                   Kind regards,
                       Muriel Adam

Hi Muriel.

Your email caught my eye last year and has been sitting in my "Most Urgent" file since then.

I would be very interested in any gravestones for REID if you can spare the time.

Regards
Murray Reid.

Hi Murray,
There are 47 “Reids” listed in Kilmarnock Cemetery alone.
                 1 in Kilmarnock High
                 7 in Kilmarnock St Andrew
Do you have any more details to slim it down?
I can only send 6 pics at a time as servers do not like files that are too large.
Happy hunting,
Muriel Adam ( Edinburgh)

That was quick Muriel.

My first interest is my gt gt grandparents.

James Hamilton Reid of Maybole. Died February 1858
Margaret Hannah Reid (Crawford). Died May 1857.
James was christened "Hamilton Boswell James" but seemed always to be known as J H.

My second interest is the previous generation.

Hugh Reid, also of Maybole. Died December 1831.
Elizabeth Reid (Boyd). Died March 1829.

Thanks
Murray Reid

Sorry no joy, but I suspect they will be buried in Maybole Cemetery.
I don’t have every pic of gravestones at Maybole. Only those that were of interest to our own family research.

Hi Chris and Muriel,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this, but my husband had neurosurgery last year, and the follow-ups have well and truly curtailed much of my genealogical research. Muriel, I would be extremely grateful if you would please consider emailing me copies of your pic's?  These are definitely some of my Finnies.  :)  My email address is lynne....@gmail.com I have dowloaded the pdf, Chris...thank you!!  Kind regards, Lynne.

Hi ,
This is for Muriel Adam. My dad's (John Adam ..father David Beveridge Adam ..mother Agnes McLean) family were from Ayrshire and I wondered if there was any connection between us ? I have a public tree on both Genes Reunited and Ancestry. They can be accessed either under my maiden name Nan Adam for G.R. or both Nan Adam and Ken Arnold  for the Ancestry tree.
We've encountered a few difficulties in tracing the family however I know that his family moved to Paisley while there were still relatives in the Kilmarnock area.
This may be a long shot but I always think every route is worth exploring particularly when the path is covered in thorns ! :)
My email should be on this if you would like to get in touch.
Also if anyone reads this and it rings any bells for them ..I'd really appreciate hearing from you too.
Many thanks,
Regards,
Nan

Dear Muriel,
My ancestors were from Kilmarnock. I saw your post and i was interesting to know if you have a picture of the Campbell vault of Berbrock in the Kilmarnock cemetery near the Kilmarnock church. Maybe there is something writtin on it that can help me to find more ancestors. Thank you!

Hi Muriel,

Muriel, you very kindly sent me pic's of the Finnie gravestones, but my computer died, I forgot my password and can't access my old gmail account to retrieve them.  I hate to ask you this, but would it please be possible for you to send them to me again at my new gmail address?  My email is lynetteh...@gmail.com

Kind regards,
Lynne.
