They emigrated from Scotland in 1860, but whether to Canada or US I
cant find a record. They settled in Amboy, Oswego, New york near the
Wasson family that had come here previous. I believe Davids parents
were Andrew Black and Isabel Wood of Old and New Cumnock. David and
Jannett (or Jannett) were from Barr and Dailly. Can anyone help me
with where they shipped to in getting to New York and their ancestry
lines?

There are still Wason families in Dailly who I know.

Hi: As far as where they would have left from, it is wide open.  Ayr, Irvine and Ardrossan, though small, were all important ports at that time, and people left in quite small boats to emigrate. They all handled a lot of import and export, so a few passengers could be squeezed in on any boat going.

Also, railways were up and running and my ancestors leaving in 1850 probably took a boat to Carlisle, and the train from Carlisle to London and boarded their ( bigger) ship in London. That is what their friends had done a year before them. They were all from the Irvine-Kilmarnock area.
