Weekly Roadrunner Update 4/11

Hey Roadrunners!

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! We are back on schedule this week with practices at their usual times. 

• THURSDAY: Basics/Beginners will be from 4:00 to 6:30. Please make sure to send your sailors with an extra pair of clothes and a towel. Weather permitting, we will be learning capsize recovery. If winds exceed 15 knots, we will stay on shore to work on rigging, knots, and other land activities. 

• SATURDAY: Unfortunately the Scott Young Start Clinic has been cancelled, so Green Fleet practice will be at 1:30 instead of 1:00. However, Bill Records, who has attended Scott's clinic in the past, will be joining us as a special guest speaker and coach. Following our chalk talk, we will be practicing starts out on the water. This will be a fairly advanced practice and the forecast is calling 15+ knots so please keep that in mind when deciding whether or not to attend. Laser/Sunfish practice will be after Green Fleet from 4:00 to 6:30.

• SUNDAY: Free Sail Sunday is on for this weekend. All AYC families and Roadrunner sailors are welcome to come down to the Rylander Pavilion between 1:00 and 4:00 to take out a Sail Training Opti, Pico, Sunfish, or Laser. Please plan on arriving before 3:00 or so if you would like to sail. All boats should be back on the dock by 3:45 to derig before the session ends at 4:00. 

Registration for both camp and PB&J is up on the AYC website! I want to remind everyone that we will not have regular weekly Roadrunner practices while camp is in session so I encourage everyone to sign on up. Also, we are still looking for CITs for summer camp (ages 15-16) and a Head Counselor over the age of 21. Please contact me if you (or someone you know!) is interested.
